I’ve spent the past 20 years of my life, never once going apple picking! Am I crazy or what?! So, over the weekend my mom, my brothers and I all made a trip to Wilson’s Orchard for some apple picking. We were hoping for a cooler day, but instead, Mother Nature gave us 80 degrees and sunshine—not exactly sweater weather, but we weren’t complaining. We wandered down rows of apple trees, some heavy with bright red apples, others with crisp green ones, and filled a basket to take home. Before leaving, we treated ourselves to homemade apple turnovers and some fresh apple cider for the ride.

That little adventure also made me appreciate just how much care goes into orchard-made treats, especially cider. And the growing appreciation for locally sourced beverages has led many to discover the remarkable depth that can be achieved when traditional methods meet innovative combinations. Wilson’s Orchard also has a huge field of pumpkins to pick from, free tractor rides for families on the weekend, and they even offer parties and weddings. My first experience apple picking was a blast and I am glad I was able to fit it in my busy schedule. I will definitely be doing it again next year.

    i love apple picking – i couldn’t really go this year because a lot of the texas crop froze 🙁 but glad you marked that off of your fall bucket list! that lip color looks AWESOME on you!
